50 Ohm dummy load

I just found this among my stored things. It is a 50 ohm dummy load that I made when I was about seventeen. It is for testing powerful short-wave radio transmitters without too much actual transmission.

Spot the design flaw…

  1. black diode for funsies? cant tell how the resistors are soldered together, but brn-blk-brn: 10ohms… i hope they’re not all in parallel :-S

  2. They are all pretty burned up. All in parallel, yep. Measures 50 ohms resistance. Works fine at HF, dunno about higher feq.
