Change in the law re bio-diesel
It seems the law regarding bio-fuels is about to change, as I read it (it does not make easy reading - download the PDF here) I don’t have to pay the duty on the fuel any more!
More specifically, in any rolling 12 month period, so long as I don’t produce more than (or think I may produce more than) 2,500 liters of fuel then:
- I don’t have to pay duty on it,
- I do not have to be registered with HMCE,
- I don’t have to submit monthly returns,
…but:
- I still have to keep a full record of my vehicles fuel use
(including its regular diesel use, millage and so on, and have to keep these records for six years).
Sounds like excellent news to me!
Even in my big van, at 10 miles to the liter my first 25,000 miles will be duty free!
Why not get your vehicle converted, build yourself a waste veg oil processor and set up a collection regime with your local chip shop/pub/take away and fuel could be (very near enough) free!
I have converted several vehicles to run on vegetable oil already. It costs £800/£1,000; all in with a good quality kit and properly installed. Contact me for more information.
